Hello Nancy, this is for Angie in Ohio. I have been using this recipe of my
Mother's for over 20 years so it is very tried and true.
Sourdough Bread Starter
Step number one
2 C flour
2 T sugar
1 package yeast
2 1/2 cups warm water
Step number two
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup flour
Mix two cups flour, sugar and yeast. Add the warm water and let stand for 72
hours. Stir several times. Add milk, sugar and flour. Now it is ready to use.
Each time you use it add 1 cup milk, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1 cup flour and let set
3 hours at room temp. Refrigerate. Always use glass jar and cheese cloth to
cover.
