Thank you for the list of the newsletters over the years too. I
think I've read and nearly copied them all LOL, but as I go back and
re-read I find things I may have missed or forgotten. So now let me
share a recipe I found in the coupon section of my Sunday paper that
I've made 3 or 4 times and my very picky, spicy food intolerant DH
REALLY likes.
3-Step Jambalaya
1) In a large saucepan over high heat, saute for 5 minutes:
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Rice from 1 ( 6.8 oz.) pkg of Rice-A Roni Spanish Rice
1 minced clove of garlic
1/2 cup chopped onions
3/4 cup chopped bell pepper ( any variety)
2) Mix in a bring to a boil:
2 cups of water
1 ( 14.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes (drained)
Rice-A-Roni Spanish Rice Special seasonings pkt.
1 pkg. Hillshire Farm Smoked sausage, cut in 1/4 inch slices
3) Final steps:
Lower heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until
rice is cooked. Remove from heat and stir. Add hot sauce to taste.
Serves 4.
I consider this a complete meal and it drives me crazy as it cooks.
Also it fits into the four basic food groups I try to adhere to-
canned, bagged, boxed, frozen. Hope you try it and like it as much
as we do.

PS- I goofed a couple times on the tomatoes and used the large 28 oz
cans and also used the large can of the petite diced tomatoes. I
liked it with more tomatoes and so I make it that way on purpose.
