I was wondering if anyone would have a recipe to make loaf of round bread that can be hollowed out and filled with Spinach dip. I know these loaves can be purchased but I would really like to bake one myself. Thanks to all that can help me in this search.

Also, I'd like to thank you, Nancy, for all your time and hard work that you put into this wonderful ezine. You are the greatest.

After checking further I found this about steak dust. Sams club carries this for under $5.00 for a 14.5 oz. container & Tones took it over from Durkee.

Tones Steak Dust 14.5oz 412g

Durkee Steak Dust has been rebranded as Tones Steak Dust. This is the exact same seasoning that you enjoyed under the Durkee Label in a new smaller package labeled as Tones Brand. Tones and Durkee are both brands of ACH Foods, Memphis, TN.

A hearty blend of savory flavors: spices, garlic and onion. Add mouth-watering flavor to choice cuts of steak or hamburgers before grilling. Rub into beef or pork roasts or season Portobello mushrooms.

Smokey Blue Cheese Burger

Melt 1/4 cup butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 thinly sliced onions, cook for 15 - 20 minutes until caramelized. Add 1 tbsp Tone's Steak Dust Seasoning.
Season 6 hamburger patties with 1 tbsp Tone's Steak Dust Seasoning.
Grill hamburgers to desired doneness.
Place cooked hamburgers on toasted buns, top with caramelized onions and sprinkle 1 tbsp blue cheese over each hamburger.

Ingredients: salt, dehydrated onion, dehydrated garlic, spices, calcium stearate (anti-caking agent), hydrolyzed corn & yeast protein, hydrolyzed soy, corn & wheat protein, carmel color, maltodextrin, autolyzed yeast extract, beef (fat & extract), natural flavor, corn syrup solids, disodium inosinate & guanylate, hydrolyzed wheat glutein, hydrolyzed corn gluten & soy protein

Nancylanders: Steak Dust was formerly produced and distributed under the Durkee label but is currently distributed under the Tone's label. And a friend in South Carolina, whom I'd recommended it to, sent me an e-mail stating that he picked it up at Sam's Club for $4.88 per container. What
I've purchased on-line is a 14.5 ounce container that sells for $9.96 per unit PLUS shipping charges..Pretty hefty price on-line but I consider it worth the cost.

Sandy in ND was wondering about the small blueberries. Maybe they are huckleberries!! They are much better than blueberries and can be used the same way. Our farmers market sells them for about 10.00 a pound!

In the Aug. 30th newsletter, Sandy in ND was wondering about a frozen bag of berries that look and taste like blueberries but are the size of a pencil eraser. Since you live close to the Canadian border, Sandy, I imagine you have a bag of wild saskatoons. They can be used much the same as blueberries. The cultivated variety are the size of blueberries, but wild saskatoons are much smaller.

For Sandy from ND, The berries you have may be juneberries or another name is saskatoon blueberries. June berries are like a blueberry but don't need the acidic soil that blueberries need. I grow them and use them like blueberries. You can make pie, muffins or Jam. We like jam made with raspberries and juneberries mixed.

Marge (North AL and rainy) in the 8-30-09 Newsletter ask for a Honey Nut Butter Recipe from Smokey Bones Restaurant. I don't have that recipe but there have been several Honey Butter Recipes in Nancy's Newsletters (Thanks Nancy for such a vast selection of recipes to choose from). in the past. Here are two of them. If you just add nuts to either one of these you will find they are very good. Pat So. Cal.

Praise God! We are headed to rehab today! Kolby is doing so well. His therapists just watched him walk in the hall and were just amazed. He used the walker part of the way, then walked with his therapist holding his arm the rest of the way! Just a blessing!

I will update when I can. I'm not sure when this will be. Anyway, just keep praying for Kolby. Rehab will be very intense, but he can do it. Phillipians 4:13... Read More

We are praising and thanking GOD! :)

Our Prayer Requests

Dear Nancy,

I am writing for my mother, Ina Ray Crouse. She is recovering from eye surgery right now and the computer is a no-no per the doctor. But she did have something happen last week right before the surgery that she wondered if you could help.

She is an avid crochet/knitter and made several lap rugs to donate to the guy in the VA hospitals. She gave the blankets to a local Veterans of Foreign Wars organization months ago, then she went with them to the hospital last weekend. Her main concern was feed back as to: were they long enough, did the foot pocket fit, and was the other pockets in the right spot. In other words she wanted feed back because she wanted to perfect the pattern and then let others have it so they could also make and donate the blankets.

Mom was greatly surprised at the VA hospital. One, the VFW group then stated that there was no need for the lap rugs and gave them back to her. Two, so many young men, where she thought there would be elderly.

One young man asked if she knew someone, somewhere… the hospital library was closed on the weekend... .and the patients could not check out a book, or access the computers… therefore they could not email their families. This broke mom’s heart.

So, she asked if I would write you (she is an avid fan of yours), ask if you know someone, somewhere that she could ask for help is getting the library open for the guys on the weekend.

I wonder if they just need volunteers to run the hospital library, or if it’s budget cut and has to be employee run. Unfortunately I live too far to help in this case. The VA hospital was in Salisbury, NC.

This is out of your area she knows, but wondered if one of your readers might have an idea. Thanks for reading this…and oh by the way, the group also took food to the guys and the grape salad was the biggest hit!
Thanks again, Gloria M. Dixon
