HI NANCY I enjoy the newsletter and have never contributed before. This recipe, "Wine Biscuits" is a very old recipe made by my Italian grandmother , my mother , and now me . I'm sure it was made by my great grandmothers as well. Here it is : It's very easy and delicious . Dee / R.I. & Fl

Wine Biscuits

4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 cup oil ( I usually use corn or corn blend)
1 cup cheap wine (red)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees

Mix flour , sugar, baking powder in large bowl. Mix thoroughly and form a "well" in center of the dough.

Pour oil and red wine in "well". Stir thoroughly and then with your hands I knead and stir the dough more (in the bowl). Then take a small portion of the dough mixture and roll about two or three inches long then place on ungreased cookie sheet and turn the two ends together . I brush with an egg wash . bake about 20 minutes . Top will be lightly browned . Makes about 40 45 biscuits. Just delicious --can't stop eating them
