Bratwurst, Sauerkraut and Apples

1 quart fresh or jarred sauerkraut
1 pound cooked Johnsonville brats, the white ones (can use others, but the mild taste of these is best)
2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 t. caraway seeds,
1/2 c. water

Rinse the sauerkraut and drain well. Snip it with kitchen scissors. Put it in a crockpot (about a 3 and1/2 or 4 quart one)

Cut the brats in half. Add everything to the kraut and stir. Cook on high for 3 and 1/2 to 4 hours, or on low for 6-7 hours. Times depend on how hot your crockpot gets--I know that the new ones cook faster than the old ones.

This is really good--quite mild in taste.
