Return to March Recipe Index

To Doris S who was looking for a chicken recipe in the March 19 newsletter. Hopefully
this is the one she is looking for:

This easy recipe is from Dinah Shore’s cookbook, and she made the recipe on her morning show in the 1970s.

Dinah Shore’s Chicken

4 pounds chicken cut into pieces
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1/4 cup dry white wine
1/2 cup parmesan or cheddar cheese, shredded

Lay chicken in large baking pan. Season with salt and pepper. Scatter 1/4 cup almonds over the top of the chicken. Mix the three soups and the wine together. Pour over chicken and almonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. During the last 30 minutes of baking time, sprinkle on the shredded cheese and the remaining almonds. Serve with rice or buttered noodles.
