Mary J's Chess Pie Recipe

Ingredients
1 stick butter
2 cup sugar
6 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pinch salt
1 unbaked pie shell

Directions
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each; add milk, vanilla and salt. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes on low rack of oven; lower heat to 325 and bake for 50-60 minutes more.

Pickled Cranberry Preserves Recipe

These tart, lightly spiced berries are a vibrant addition to cheese platters, and a spoonful can also be used as a stand-in for cranberry sauce. A little goes a long way, so consider packing them in two smaller jars and tucking them into gift baskets with crackers and cheese.

Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup cider vinegar
1 inch piece fresh ginger thinly sliced
6 whole cloves
2 teaspoons coarse salt
1 teaspoon black peppercorn
3 cups fresh or frozen whole cranberries
4 strips orange zest

Directions
In saucepan, bring sugar, vinegar, ginger, cloves, salt and peppercorns to boil; cook, stirring, until sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.
Stir in cranberries and orange zest; bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook until cranberries are just beginning to burst, 5 to 7 minutes. Let cool completely, about 2 hours. Strain mixture over bowl, reserving solids and liquid.
Transfer cranberry solids to sterilized 2-cup jar with tight-fitting lid; top with enough reserved liquid to cover, discarding any excess. Seal tightly. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours. Store in refrigerator for up to 2 months.

I am searching for a tried and tested recipe for Jeff Davis Pie. I had a recipe years ago and like it a lot. Can someone help me with a TNT recipe for a Jeff Davis Pie.

Pumpkin Bread Recipe
Makes 3 loaves

4 eggs, beaten
3 cups sugar/ splenda
1 cup oil
2/3 cup hot water
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 lb can (16oz) can pumpkin (either pure or pie mix)
1 cup walnuts chopped
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon EACH: allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg

Directions
Preheat oven to 350*

Beat eggs add sugar and oil. Add hot water to baking soda, blend into egg mixture. Stir in pumpkin Sift together remaining dry ingredients and mix well. Stir in nuts. Pour into 3 well greased loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour. ENJOY !!

These breads make great gifts any time of year.

Strawberry Walnut Bread Recipe
Makes 2 loaves

Ingredients
2 cups finely chopped nuts
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cardamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
4 eggs beaten
2 cups sugar- splenda
1 1/2 cups mashed strawberries fresh or thawed
1 cup coconut oil or could use vegetable oil
1 large mashed banana ***

Ingredients
Grease and flour 2- 9x5x3"pans. Sprinkle 1/2 cup nuts on bottom of each pan. In a large bowl stir together flour,cinnamon,cardamon, salt and nutmeg.In another bowl mix together strawberries, sugar, eggs, oil and banana. Mix well then add that mix to the dry ingredients. Stir until all is just moistened. Pour batter into loaf pans.

Bake at 350* for 1 hour.
*** if you want to leave out banana add 3/4 cup of strawberries.

Savory Cheddar Bread Recipe

Ingredients
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1-1/4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted butter

Ingredients
Combine first 7 ingredients in a bowl; set aside. Combine egg, milk and butter, mix well then add to dry ingredients. Stir until just moistened. Pour batter in a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350* for 45 minutes. Yield one loaf. ENJOY !!!

Rich Hot Cocoa Recipe

1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 cup vegan sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups soy milk or rice milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Put cocoa, sugar, water and salt in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until dissolved about 3 minutes. Add soy milk or rice milk and stir constantly until piping hot about 3 to 5 minutes. Add vanilla extract. Serve in coffee mugs. Great with a shake of ground cinnamon and/or a vegan non dairy whipped topping.
Makes 5 (8 ounce) servings.

Coconut Pie Recipe
Makes its own crust

Ingredients
4 eggs, well beaten
1/2 cup self rising flour
1-3/4 cup sugar
1/2 stick of butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cup milk
1 (7 ounce) package coconut

Directions
Combine all ingredients. Mix well and pour into 2 pie pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown.

Impossible Chocolate Pie Recipe

Ingredients
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 oz melted chocolate
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup Bisquick

Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Put everything in blender for 1 min. Pour into pie plate. Bake for 30 minutes until tests done with knife. Cool completly and top with whipped cream.

French Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients
1(9-inch) pie shell
7 cups sliced; pared apples
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1-1/2 tablespoons butter

Topping
1 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup butter

Combine apples, cinnamon and sugar. Fill pie shell and dot with butter. Sprinkle with topping.

To make topping:
Combine flour, sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes.

Peach Pie Recipe
Makes Own Crust

Ingredients
1 stick butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1 (29-oz) can sliced peaches

Directions
Melt butter in 8x8-inch dish. Add milk & dry ingredients. Mix well. Pour into dish & pour peaches over batter. Bake at 350 until brown.

Vinegar Pie Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoon unbleached flour
1 cup cold water
5 tablespoon vinegar
2-1/2 tablespoon butter
4 large Eggs, beaten

Directions
Combine sugar and flour. Add the rest of the ingredients and place in a saucepan. Cook until thick and pour into prepared pie crust. Bake in a 375 degrees F. oven until crust is brown.

Christmas Gumdrop Fruitcake Recipe

Ingredients
4 c Flour; Sifted
1 ts Cinnamon
1/4 ts Cloves
1/4 ts Salt
1 lb White Raisins
1 lb large gumdrops; (omit black gum drops)
1 cut nuts; chopped
1 cup butter
2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 cup applesauce
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon hot Water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions
Sift and measure flour. Add spices and salt; sift again. Set aside. Cut gumdrops and add part of dry ingredients to raisins. Add gumdrops and chopped nuts; set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add well beaten eggs and mix together. Alternating, add the flour mixture and applesauce to creamed mixture. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add vanilla and mix into batter. Add floured raisins, gumdrops and nuts.
Pour into 2 or 3 loaf pans lined with greased brown paper.
Bake at 300F about 2 hours.

Christmas Brussel Sprouts with Chestnuts Recipe

Ingredients
1-1/2 pound Brussel sprouts
1/2 pound chestnuts
1/2 teaspoon rosemary
1/2 teaspoon tarragon
1/2 teaspoon cumin
1 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch

Directions
Blanche brussel sprouts in boiling water 5 - 10 minutes. Run cold water over them. Take chestnuts, with a sharp knife, make an "X" on the top of each one. Brush each chestnut with oil. Bake for 20 minutes at 400F. Then shell. Mix sprouts, chestnuts and seasoning. Season with salt and pepper. Pour over broth. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes (can extend). Remove from oven. Pour liquid into pan and mix with cornstarch and water. Cook over medium heat till thickened. Pour over vegetables.

Christmas Cranberry Cake Recipe

Ingredients
2 cup cranberries, rinsed, picked over, and patted dry
1-1/2 cup sugar, divided
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 eggs
1 stick margarine, melted
1 stick butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour

Directions
Preheat oven to 325 F.

Mix the cranberries, 1/2 cup of the sugar, and the nuts and pour into a greased 10-inch pie plate.

Beat together the eggs and remaining 1-cup sugar. Add the cooled melted margarine and butter and flour, stirring to blend well. Pour the batter over the cranberry mixture and bake in a preheated 325 F oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Serve plain or with vanilla ice cream.

Old-Fashioned Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup sifted flour
3 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup milk
2 eggs; beaten
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the cornmeal and stir until well mixed. In another bowl combine the milk, eggs, honey or maple syrup, and the butter or bacon drippings. Add the liquids to the dry ingredients and stir just until all are moistened. Pour the batter into an oiled 8 inch square baking pan and bake about 20 minutes or until done in the center and lightly browned. To test for doneness insert a toothpick or cake tester in the center. If it comes out dry the corn bread is done
