This used to
be my kids favorite chocolate cake. The
recipe used to be on the back of the
Hershey's can, but last time I looked it
wasn't there. Luckily I copied the
recipe in my file so I'd have it.

Chocolate Town Special Recipe
1-3/4 cups sugar
2-1/2 cups cake flour
1-1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup cocoa
cup boiling water
Preheat oven 350. Grease and flour 2 9”
cake pans. In med bowl, cream sugar and
shortening until light and fluffy. Add
eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add
vanilla and blend well.
another bowl sift together flour, soda,
and salt. Add alternately to shortening
mixture with buttermilk. Make a heavy
smooth paste of cocoa and boiling water,
cool slightly, and add to batter and mix
Pour into prepared pans and
bake about 35 mins. Frost with Fluffy
3/4 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
cups confectioners’ sugar
butter or margarine
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 cup milk
medium bowl, stir together cocoa and
bowl, cream together part if the
cocoa-sugar mixture with the butter.
Blend in vanilla and half of the milk.
Add remaining cocoa-sugar mixture and
blend well. Add remaining milk and beat
to desired spreading consistency.
Additional milk may be required.
