Cabbage and Potato Gratin Recipe

I have not tried this recipe as yet but plan to do so this week. It sounds yummy.
 
Cabbage and Potato Gratin Recipe

Ingredients
Salt
1 large savoy or green cabbage (apprx. 2 lbs quartered)
1 lb baking potatoes peeled and sliced
2 cloves garlic peeled
2 cups milk
2 cups creme fraiche (I might substitute or omit)
1 cup gruyere grated tightly packed
1 oz parmesan grated (1/4 cup)
2 tsp fresh sage (I would probably use dried )

Directions
Bring large pot of water to boil, salt and add cabbage and potato slices. Reduce heat to med-high and boil gently for 5 min.

Drain and transfer cabbage to colander set over a boil or in sink. Allow cabbage to cool until you can handle it . Core wedges then cut them in half lengthwise. Finally , slice crosswise into 1/2 inch wide ribbons . Return to colander and drain for 5 more min. Place in large bowl with potatoes. Heat oven to 375 degrees . Butter a 3 qt baking dish. Slice up the garlic and toss with the cabbage and potatoes. In a bowl, whisk millk, creme fraiche, 1 tsp salt and pepper . Pour into bowl with cabbage and potatoes. Add cheeses and sage and toss together . Bake 1 hr and 15 min. to 1 hr and 30 min. During first 45 min press the veggies down into the liquid in the baking dish ever 15 min. The gratin will still be bubbling when you remove it from the oven and you will see liquid in the baking dish . Wait 10-15 min .before serving, until liquid is absorbed. Serve with slotted spoon .
