Buttermilk Cornbread Sausage Casserole

1 lb. sausage, fried, drained well
1 1/2 cup self-rising corn meal
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon dehydrated red pepper pieces
1/2 cup onion, chopped
3/4 cup grated Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup creamed corn
1 egg
3/4 cup buttermilk*

Mix together with sausage. Bake about 40 minutes in a 7 x 11 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees.

* Powdered buttermilk does not have to be mixed separately. I just add the powder with my flour and the water with the my other liquids and let it mix in the batter.
