Ham and Cabbage Casserole

1/4 c. butter
1 small head cabbage, shredded
1/2 tsp. salt
1 smoked ham center slice, cut
1-inch thick
2 Tbsp. pancake syrup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In 12-inch skillet over medium heat, in hot butter, cook the shredded cabbage and salt; stir quickly and frequently until cabbage is tender-crisp, about 5 minutes. Spoon cabbage evenly into 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Place ham slice on top of cabbage, drizzle syrup over ham and cabbage. Bake in oven 30 minutes or until ham is heated through. Stir cabbage occasionally so that it doesn't stick. Serve immediately.
Makes 6 servings.
