Noodles and Cabbage
1 (8 oz.) pkg. wide noodles
1 tsp. salt
4 c. shredded cabbage
6 Tbsp. butter or margarine
2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. caraway seed
1/4 tsp. pepper
boiling salted water
Sprinkle salt over cabbage; toss lightly and let stand for 30 minutes. Squeeze
cabbage to release liquid; discard liquid.
Melt butter in wide frying pan over medium-high heat. Add cabbage, sugar,
caraway seed and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is
crisp-tender (about 5 minutes). Keep warm.
Cook noodles in large kettle of boiling salted water
until done. Drain, then toss with cabbage mixture before
serving. Makes 6 servings.
