Potato Strips with Cheese

3 c. raw potato strips (cut as for French fries)
1/2 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1/2 c. thinly shaved American cheese

Put potato strips in greased casserole and pour milk over them. Dot with butter and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover and bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes or until tender. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover and bake until cheese melts.
