Vanilla Recipe
Cut the beans open; insert in a one liter bottle of vodka, cap tightly.
Store in dark place for at least three months. Shake bottle occasionally.
Note: You can use brandy, bourbon or whiskey but I prefer vodka.
When I need to make more, I often just leave the used beans in the bottle,
add fresh beans and vodka.
A 4 oz. package has about 25 beans which is enough for a liter of liquor.
You can also remove the used beans from the bottle, dry well, put in container
and add sugar to cover. Use this vanilla sugar for baking, etc. Be sure beans
are very dry before adding sugar.
